Like Ryan said earlier, an E39 M5 or E46 M3 would be a dumb idea given the simple fact that any example of either car will probably be wearing more than 60-70k miles on it, and really, do you want to be around when the maintenance bills surface? You have always seemed like the kind of person who needs an E36 M3 (or M3/4), I'd go that direction and put the remainder into getting it up to par... or, go buy another E30 and spend the remainder on the forum to get your illusive mod status back.

depending on how many usable seats and cargo space you want, get:

E46 M3
M Coupe
E39 M5

obviously the M5 would be a little pricier to maintain.
