Daniel - you beat me to it - rule of thirds - or if you want to get more precise on your composition - maybe take it as inspiration for new compositions, follow the Golden Ratio.
and if he hasn't done any post processing, shooting raw will change that in a heartbeat.
photographers who talk negatively about post processing are just bitter cause they are either behind the times, or they just don't have any 2d skills but call themselves photography "artists" anyways.
a good artist can consistently produce good shots AND final images, an amateur might get lucky now and then, but crap skills are always gonna produce crap product when you look at the big picture.
Massimo, the best thing you can do, is post your personal impressions of your own images both positive and negative, then see how people react - if you hear crickets, then your negatives are probably hitting the nail square on the head - to advance any artistic skill set as rapidly as possible, you must be your own worst critic. if someone says something negative that you didn't foresee and it catches you off guard, that should tell you you need to step back from your perspective and re-evaluate what steps you made that got you there.
Post up a new image and give us your feedback before publishing the post - think of it as an experiment in introspected self-education.
Nice go on the 60D. seems like a really nice body for catching vids
