    clearing windows xp. how?

    So i just got a new to me computer that has windows xp. i want to erase it completely so it's like new, when i turn it on again. how do i do this? i just want a fresh start with it.

    do you have a win xp cd and the drivers cd?

      i do not. all i have is the pc. i can ask the person i got it from is they still have them. other wise will that link get me the soft ware?

        Sounds like you are in over your head already.

        No that link won't get you the software. Yes, you need the CD, the key, and you might be able to get away with out any drivers, depends on what you got in there.

        What you need is someone to help you in person.

            Do you have a CD key? A lot of times they are on a sticker on the case.

              theres a stick with some numbers on it? it says its a certificate of authenticity

                    jks, seriously, do not do that!!!

                    anyway, yea, just reinstall windows, if you cant find the original product key, you can find keygen's online, however this should be a last resort as it is an illegal method.

                      what are the specs on the system? maybe delete xp and run ubuntu or a faster running Operating System. Xp is old and outdated. Ubuntu is free and I love it on my little netbook.

                          if you are open to trying out something besides windows, I highly recommend Linux Mint. it comes pre-packaged with everything most people would ever need program-wise and is practically idiot-proof
