Yeah, it is very 300-ish, though it doesn't have the "artsyness" 300 had, which I'm ok with.
I have no idea how this is shot but the fight scenes are probably some of the best I've seen in any movie/series. In 300, the fights were too fast imho, whereas Spartacus has them shot with great detail and the slow-mo's aren't annoying. Ie. on a throat cut, in HD you can actually see the neck skin bevel, start moving to the side and rip apart with gushing blood. It amazes me. The CGI or whatever is being used isn't apparent at all so there's no fake feel to it.
I love the language structure and accents they use, and the fact that nothing is too dirty to be spoken.
The sex scenes show the grotesque and barbaric nature of the Roman Empire the way it really was. Like the camera panning from a room with two guys raping a chick and an old homo getting sucked in the next.

A great reality check for those who think Rome was just an empire with cool ancient buildings :)

Some of the actors are the same (black guy that gets sparta kicked into the pit), and there were 2 or 3 lines in that 1:30 trailer that were damn near straight out of the movie..

Not complaining, I plan to watch it now, just curious.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a while - word is that Spartacus from Season 1 has cancer and can't shoot, so they're looking for a replacement.
