I had my 24" Qbox soft box in front of me w/ my 580ex firing at I think 1/8th power, then I held my 40D in front of me at arms length in the middle of my softbox and took a picture. Then I edited it in Lightroom.

yeah my camera is garbage after ISO 800 and still looks nasty at 400.

I want a soft box. But I want to prioritize my photo equipment and I think a new body is #1

Meh, bodies don't really mean too much until you get into high ISO situations. Off camera lighting can make an 18-55 kit lens look awesome. But, nice lens> off camera flash> Body. IMO

I've been using a Rebel XSi for the good part of 2 years. I never use my 40D. Going to send it in to Canon to get checked out soon so I can use it more. But I think the 40D and XSi are practically the same camera, just the 40D has faster FPS and the XSi more megapixels mostly.

Cool pic, the fire in the back really makes it.^

One of my friends picked up an S4 yesterday, took a few pictures of it this afternoon.

So what is a good upgrade lens? The Nikon 35mm?

What do you have right now, and if zoom do you tend to take wide or zoomed photos?

A 50 or 35 prime is always a good lens to have, and usually rather cheap.

I have the 18-55 kit and the cheapy Nikon 55-200

Honestly I would get a 35/50 mm prime lens depending on your body. F1.8 aperture can really come in handy.

Yeah I bet it does. Can anybody post up some 35mm prime shots? So I can get an idea of all the things it can shoot?
