BMW to design boats!

Where are you buys getting this "information" that BMW designed anything on the Oracle AC boats?

Yacht designers can design a boat that has boat speed roughly 2.5-3 times that of true wind speed - 28kts of boat speed in a 10kt breeze, which is down to the design of the wing sail, and the ability to trim the camber of the individual portions to adjust lift which allows then to sail at a 20 degree alpha with respect to the wind direction.

I don't think they needed help from some guys that had trouble with a fuel pump in a 335i.

I wasn't suggesting that they designed anything but I had heard they were a little more involved in the technoligies of the boat than the typical sponsored boats. I can't say I have heard anything about the new multis they are currently sponsoring. I'm not a fan of the direction they are trying to take AC to but a drive down the I5 to watch the event sure is apealing.
