The idealization that you can live debt free is great, fantastic. I'm all for it if you can do it. But, it's not the majority and acting like you're so above it and everyone should be able to or attempt to be just like you as it's "the right way" is retardedly annoying.

I'm going to chock this up to my dry, methodical writing style in addition to this being a very sensitive and personal subject for most. I'm not trying to act like I'm above anything. I have been in that hole before. (a few bad work years with long layoffs back to back) I have gotten dug outta that hole other than my truck loan. You have NO idea the weight that is off your shoulders once that debt is gone. and you can see your bank account GROW rather than just stay where it is.

In the last 16 months I have paid off 36k in debts, and rebuilt my savings to a point where I can live with NO change in life style with NO INCOME AT ALL for 10-12 months. Its not an easy thing to do, it takes a ton of sacrifice and a fuck load of work, but once you are not pay check to pay check anymore just scraping by, you really do have a new sense of reality.
