    Martial Arts People!!

A buddy and I are thinking about taking Wing Chun classes, which is the style of martial arts Bruce Lee Mastered. We watched the "Ip Man" trilogy and are now hooked. Is there anything I need to know before we sign up for the classes. Thank you

You should know that what you watched was a staged movie. In real life, if you fight 10 guys, you get all of them at once, not one at a time.

He was doing you a favor. Now the moment won't kill you, because you'll take up a real martial art:

Bruce Lee was taught Wing Chun, but he did not master it. He took elements from all kinds of things and tweaked it into his own form, which he called Jun Fan Jeet Kun Do. That being said, Savate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kyokujin Karate, and Sambo are much better defensive forms of martial arts. DOn't take a form just because you saw it in a movie and you think it's cool.

Yeah I would go with something more like kaijudo kenpo or savat. I practiced goju ryu for 8 years and its a solid form for self defense. Although kickboxing is much for fun to learn.

I did Judo from the ages of 6-9. Helped a bunch.

And yeah, don't try and fight 10-15 guys at once. ASK ME HOW I KNOW.
                      Need a part? PM me.

I took Kyokujin, Judo, Muay Thai, and now in BJJ. My fiance did Goju Ryu for 10 years, where as I've been training off and on for 20 and she can hang with me, and I usually get welted up if I try and take her down.

First Peninsula Muay Thai, then B Street Boxing and now Bay Area Boxing for BJJ. My BJJ coach and his wife got their black belts from Ralph Gracie. Kyokujin Karate was when I lived in Germany for a while. Judo was under Willy Cahill.
