I've smoked on and off for a few years. I know I need to quit, but cripes smoking is awesome. The nicotine sort of gives me an extra boost in mind power. Granted, I'm trying to stop now. It's just tough when you're drinking. I really like American Spirits or rolling my own. No additives and better flavor.

But, to stay on topic, anti-smoking ads are just annoying.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
        Mark: "You never will."

school me real quick on american spirits....I usually smoke reds because i love their full, heavy flavor and the damage on my lungs but i would rather grab spirits for no additives. i've tried the yellow blue packs before, didn't enjoy the flavor of either of those, too light. Grabbed an orange pack yesterday thinking they might be heavy but, alas, they were ultra lights or some shit. blech.

Rolling your own is good but annoying...it certainly helps to keep the number i smoke throughout the day down, though.

          a little background:
started smoking cigs about 3 years ago, 19 years old. I never liked cigs before...hell, I didn't even smoke weed for the 2 years before that and was vehemently against smoking in general. started hanging out with a few friends, bumming every now and then (when drinking, mostly) and eventually picked it up. I currently smoke 2-3 a day, for the last 2 years I had been smoking 5-7 a day.

Personally, i can't understand how anyone could smoke a pack or 2 a day

I'm an off and on smoker. and I limit myself to 1 pack of Spirits per week.

            I don't think I'll get cancer.

              this.

I think the key for me is to consciously keep letting myself know that I don't need a smoke.

also, I think it would also help if it wasn't so gad damned hard to find "it" in utah.

I smoked for 12 years 2 packs a day. I quit when i was about 26 years old (i am 43 now). I did see an ad that had a old man talking about how is wife complained about him smoking and everything else smelled like smoke and in the end his wife died of his second had smoke and he was upset and crying and he said my wife was my life(mid 90's comercial). That actually made me decided that i need to quit because i didnt want my wife dying of my second hand smoke and we were talking about having a baby and i didnt want any health concerns because of it either. Its not like i smoked in the house or in the car. I am very glad i quit and the smell of smoke i cant stand it but my dad smokes a pipe but have have been use to that my whole life and it doesnt bother me because i guess it has a different type of smell to it.

it's like any addictive substance. I smoked 2 packs a day, quit for over 5 years now. could never understand how someone could put a needle in their arm, or get into meth, until it happens to you and takes you over. So happy the wife and me are over that hump.- more money for car crap.

I understand that much, it's just that I can't physically handle more than, say, 10 in one day. I start to feel sick after each drag, I think about how many cigs i've smoked and i disgust myself....

plus, i just can't find the time to go out for that many cigs, If i were awake for 16 hours each day (getting an optimal 8 hours of sleep) I'd be going outside ~every 48 minutes for 1 pack a day, every 24 minutes for 2 packs a day

factor in that each cig takes 3-5 minutes to smoke I would be spending over an hour each day smoking cigs (if one pack, 2+hours for 2 packs)....that's a lot of time i could spend with my dick in my hand loving myself

coffee and cigs are amazing........ the pic just reminded me of it. I'd get a pack of blue spirits and enjoy my coffee each morning.

I have smoked for a while I'm on a 6 week only smoke when I am drunk streak. I think the ads do not help any of the current smokers, but it will help the young ones develop an opinion on cigarettes.

I hated smoking mostly because I forgot how to function without a cigarette, that was my number one reason for quitting, weird, I know. I do have to say, you don't realize how horrible you feel while being a smoker. You think you are just getting old? No it's just smoking. I have so much more energy to do anything now.
