I have heard bad things about the engine other than that I am clueless. He just wants to do the brakes for a start, he got quoted $1200 by a shop to do it (WTF) and I priced the parts out online to under $700 if he needs rotors and under $300 if he doesn't, the truck has 80k kms/50k miles on it I tend to think the rotors might have life left but like I said I'm not familiar with anything that weighs over 3000lbs so I don't know.
Any good place to find DIY's or PDF manuals?

if so I am about 99% sure the rears are captured rotors so you have to pull the axles to get them off. Which I would bet you still have to open up the diff and pull the clips out to get the axle and hubs off to pull the rotors, Other wise I dont think its too bad of a job.
The 6.4tt engine is a little better than the 6.0 as far as reliability, but do seem to have chronic EGR cooler issues. If you rip the flex pipe on either bank exhaust mannis you will have to take the cab off or pull the motor to fix.
Edit: I dont work on fords (not even for friends) I have enough issues with my GM stuff lol.
