So a good friend of mine's sister just bombed her medical school interview. It went so bad that the Dean called her college to complain. For everything she has going for her I would say she deserved it. What it boiled down to was when they asked her what was unique about herself. So I ask R3V in a mock interview for the career of your life "what would you consider unique about yourself"?

i have a unique outlook on life; i tend to be optimistic, but consider myself to rely heavily on fact based evidence in all aspects of my career. i am more detail oriented than others, focussing on the details to bring fourth the perfection i know can be obtained. where other's lack the patience to succeed, i do not, i am one of a kind!

Where was the interview? I've never had any med school interviews go that bad (and I've been denied twice on two separate cycles).
I think she may have read into the question wrong. She should have answered, "Everybody has a unique motivation for medicine. Personally,..."
They wouldn't interview her if they didn't think she could make it through school. By the time you get to the interview, they're only trying to answer one question: "Would I want this person as a colleague?"Originally posted by GrueliusComment

The AMCAS application is very long and extensive. Combined with your secondary application and essay(s), they should know just about everything about you.
When they asked about being unique, I'm fairly certain they weren't referring to circus tricks. I'm assuming LSU is a pretty conservative (socially) school.Originally posted by GrueliusComment

I am a strait forward, quiet, easy going guy. I get along with almost anybody, and am good at avoiding conflict. I am also good at resolving conflict quickly and peacefully when it arises.
I love to solve problems, and am good at doing so in a creative and officiant way. I am a quick learner and pick new skills up very quickly. You will never have to tell me how to do something twice.
I am honest, intelligent, and friendly. I love to work, and take pride in doing the best work possible. I do not like to waist time, and love to work in an organized officiant manner.sigpic
