the cradle-to-grave energy expenditure is far more than that of a conventional car.
on top of that, there's a price premium that takes years to negate with savings at the pump compared to a gasser equivalent (say between camry vs. camry hybrid)
on top of that, they're slow and most likely ugly (save for lexus LS600h or Cayenne hybrids or any other of similar ilk, which use the technology as a power supplement)
on top of that, there is a 'holier-than-thou' stigma associated with the owners of these cars.
that said, this is the only hybrid worth its salt:

My God, there's a forum for hybrids? That's scary. What do they talk about, trees? However, :wgaf: what they think. From The Land Of Sky Blue Waters.

Thanks guys. Doing a speech on why we shouldn't use hybrids. Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
As well as good alternatives to using a hybrid

Yea it won't. I have to be a 'respectful presenter' or I will fail. Otherwise I would just say "hybrids are gay" and leave it at that

a pre-owned car. manufacturing energy has already been spent. now you're just reaping the benefits, instead of feeding the resource-consuming monster.
a diesel, especially a new one. comparable or better mileage and will last for much longer (longer service life = more environmentally friendly)
a bicycle, a subway, or a bus. especially if you're commuting around the city, GTFO the road.Comment

H.E.D.'s are the way to go. The metals needed for hybrid batteries are mined in Canada, shipped to Japan, then shipped to the builders, then shipped to the sales floor. The carbon footprint is huge, before the car is even driven.CCW- when every second counts... The police are just minutes away!Comment
