Found myself a little haven for imported German beer

It's called Cost-Plus World Market. It's kind of like Pier One, but a lot bigger, and with better stuff. They have a lot of really cool European stuff too, not just asain and african type stuff like Pier One. In addition to home decor stuff, they also have imported foods, wines, and BEER. They have TONS of beer from all over the world, and lots of German beer! Right now I'm drinking a bottle of "Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse", and goddamn it's good! It was $1.70 for the bottle, I just got one to see if I liked it. They have other German beers too, some as high as $9.79 a bottle. I'm going to try some of the more expensive stuff later, but this one I've got is pretty damn good.

    Welcome to 1999 bro.

They've got a good selection of sub 10 buck wines too that are actually pretty good.

The $10 22oz bottles are probably Belgian - made by the Trapist monks. Try the Chimay... it's fucking great.

I got one of those bucket chairs from them. They have all kinds of great imported food. Did Bend just get one or are you just that unwilling to try new stores? J/K

        Great Store.

EDIT: changed "on" to "one". Doh!

Next time you're there, look for Kilkenny (Irish) beer. I can't get it anywhere here in MA, and was under the impression that it's not imported to the states at all.

I think that's the brand that the big $10 bottles were. Some of them had some wicked label art! Reminded me of some of the stuff you see airbrushed on the hoods of some Euro cars.

Nathan, the store just opened here about 2 weeks ago. And yes, of course I'm afraid to try new things. Why do you think I drive a 20 year old car? :D

              Try:

Duvel, Maredsous, Chimay (white, blue, red), Tripel Wesmale (if they have it) - and when you awake from your drunken stupor, i'll give you a cpl more to try. oh, get the 8 percent maredsous, the 6 is weak and the 10 is too sweet.

I bought a sixer of Kilkenny at a grocery store in Atlanta, GA. It was the first time that I had seen it since going to Ireland last summer, but apparently you can find it around. It's great!

Pick up a 24oz bottle of Lindeman's Framboise. It's fucking good... even better on tap. It's an open-fermented fruit beer by the Trapist monks in Beligium.
