Insecure car enthusiasts?

I figure it's like this.

Hondas are well built, sturdy people movers. (read: Not legitimate vehicles.) They have other markets too, like the S2000 and NSX and their vans, and the Pilot.

It's really about Civics for me. And it could have been any car.

1. Mom, back in the mid/late 1990s, buys a Civic, since they are cheap and cheerful.
2. After a few years, the kids are growing up and mom has a better job. Mom goes and buys a nicer car, maybe an Accord or a Camry.
3. Kids don't have a car and are always stealing the Civic anyways, so Mom gives them it.
4. What the kids REALLY wanted was a RACING CAR!!
5. Smart corporations realize that there are a ton of Civics now in the hands of kids who want to make them into racing cars, so they create an aftermarket parts market.
6. Stupid kids think their Civics are now track monsters with a bolt on exhaust and an intake, and drive them as such.

This could have happened with a Kia Rio for all we know, it's just the way the market works.

In my experience bro truck owners are the worst by far. To me the cheaper the car is the more they have to prove. Sti and m3 owners just drive around like they're better than you, but not reving everywhere.

Honda's are a lot like BMW's. Newer, base model ones are boring; the older ones are cool, trendy and fun. To make em really cool you can just lower it, add nice wheels, and swap to a newer, more powerful engine. The big advantage of E30's over a Civic/Teg/RSX etc. is RWD.

325is: S50 swap, BBS Rs, GC's, lip = nice car
DA Integra: B18 swap, Work Meisters, Coilovers, GSR parts = nice car.

Some people like Hondas, some people like BMW's. Tell me whatever you want but for years I drove Dodge Neons. It's all about how well you modify and keep them up.

That being said, I always felt I needed something else to make me happy. Needed lower, needed one more bolt on engine mod, always felt like I needed something else. I'm happy with my rusty, M40, 17y/o Bimmer as she sits, though.

Driving home yesterday after long day at work......pretty solid traffic throughout the drive, and I was pretty tired of driving. Had my window down, and was in the second to left lane. Coming past an on-ramp, I hear the most horrible sounding exhaust I have heard in perhaps the last few years. Look over and it is some sort of attrocious possibly early gen eclipse abortion. Honestly, it could have been anything with 2 doors and some sort of Japanese manufacturer's badge on it. I notice him see me, and then notice him cutting folks off left and right behind me, trying to get next to me. He finally pulls up into my blind spot in the far left lane. From there, I guess he activated his fake BOV sound effects or perhaps just simply blew up his engine. Either way, the sound was horrible, and as embarrassed as I was for him, I was mostly just annoyed that I had to hear it right next to me with the window down. I made a bee-line for the far right exit lane and GTFO the 5. I love my M3, but it seriously gets about 150,000% more unwanted attention from morons than any of my MB's/AMG's ever have. That isn't even including all the random folks who have pulled up next to me at lights, and in all seriousness, asked if I wanted to trade cars, or "hey bro, how much did you pay for that?" They honestly seem offended when I tell them

Oh get off your high horse. Just because you have a BMW e30 means that you are better than everyone that owns a Japanese car. My friend has a Honda s2000 and it is one of the most fun cars I ever driven. More fun than- dare I say- a BMW.

In the end, they still have a HONDA. No amount of Shitty body kits and wheels and auto-zone stick on fender vents can change that.
