    Windows XP disc problem

Im wondering if any fellow R3v members can help me out..

My hard drive took a poop on my other computer due to a virus. I got another hard drive and installed it, but now theres no OS on the machine, so I went to put in my windows XP professional OS disc, and it started to load..
It gets 3/4 of the way through and says theres an error on the disc. This disc is kinda scratched so Im thinking I need a whole new XP disc.

What the heck do I do? I searched through piles of windows discs and only found Vista and XP DVD discs. My pc has a dvd drive but for some reason it isnt showing up on the boot menu therefore it wont load the DVD to install windows.

I need an XP cd rom, not a DVD basically. can this be had via email etc?//////

Your BIOS doesn't see the DVD drive? You can't put that first in the boot order?

How old is your computer and what motherboard/BIOS are you using?

You're supposed to boot directly from your optical drive to install Windows XP or Vista.

Is your DVD drive IDE (wide/thick connection cord) or SATA? If it's SATA, make sure that you aren't plugged into a RAID-only port.

EDIT: What are your current boot options and boot sequence?

SWIM has win 7 on the internet for free. Just sayin.

          It's a VLK disc though.

          Edit:

Or do this, if you can figure it out. I was looking for genuine ISO's a while back that would hash out correctly. All I had was pro discs
