How to get a US Title???

A friend of mine has one of these in his shop in the same paint/decal scheme:

It's titled under his name in Ontario right now. How would be go about getting a US title on it? I've heard of guys bringing European cars through into New Hampshire because of their lax laws against obtaining a car w/o a title. Wasn't there a guy on the board here who brought an e30 touring into NH (I think he's in Maine now)? He has the means to rent a residence in NH and get a drivers license there as well. Just checking out options for getting a title on this car. It just sits lonely in a shop right now (well, not so lonely next to the Renault R5 haha).

NH is pretty easy from what I hear. Just have to know someone who lives there, and I think you have to take the car there too....not 100% on that though.

Fly to NH. Get a post office box, and register your car through that. DONE

I did this for my GTO. I got a PO box in a rural area, and registered it through there. (in California, if you live in a rural area, you only have to smog it when you buy and sell the vehicle, otherwise you have to get it smoged every other year)

I think the FEDERAL import rules are whats going to kill you on it, as its a model that was not sold here in the states ( I dont think anyway)

His best bet is to wait for the day it reaches 25 years old or older. Then its not subject to the DOT federalization rules and or EPA regulation. Straight to historic plate status as well. Can be titled with out issues next year if its an 88

Not sure of the year. Late 80s early 90s I think. It's a few years from the 25 year mark. He wants to drive it before the gas goes bad haha.
