    Alternative central air idea

So I have this idea. I want to interrupt the water going to the rest of the apartment building and run it through one or two 18 x 18 heat exchanger slipped into the plenum of my furnace. Then have some sort of flow switch or temp sensor that everytime cool water is ran somewhere in the building, the furnace fan turns on and blows all that cold air into my apartment. Most of the time we don't use strictly cold water and since Im pre heating up the water a to 80 or so, so the water heater would run less since I am using less hot water. Then in the winter just open up a bypass for the contraption. Thoughts?

the only way I see this working like you are intending is if you have a faucet or something running all the time to keep fresh cooled water from the Main or well to cycle though your exchanges. Other wise you have to set up a more conventional geo therm system.

You will not get too much thermal efficiency you might get a 20* drop and still have the humidity in the air. by the time it blows though the system to your home it will be hot again. Would have to have it running continuously

      Yup.

The air moving over the pipes will bring them up to room temp in no time flat. Must have continuous flow of water. I have seen some guys who used fishtank pumps and mini fridges to jerry-rig a cooling system. Look it up.

Yea that's why I would have a flow switch. But I think sleeve is right. There is a lot less water moving in the apartment than I am imagining.

            Thermodynamics fail.

(unless they kept the fridges outside or something. I admit - I didn't look it up).
