I got all excited to read it and then realized I already did. :(

The one about the guy who spent 2 years in prison was good too, pretty cool perspective to hear it all for real without any dramatization.

Not bad as a work of student fiction. He probably got a decent grade for it when he submitted it as his creative writing final project at a middling university.

The author will have to do a bit more research before he rewrites it and tries to pitch it to a publisher. For example:

• the trust fund brats running around Alphabet City in the late '90s early '00s used to smoke the stuff...not shoot it.
• he seems to think that "the Loisaidas" refers to some kind of gang...but it's just the generic name for the Puerto Rican community living in the area (the "lower east siders").
• I seriously doubt you could buy a Glock and box of ammo on the streets for $500 in those days. Triple that number and you'd probably be in the right ballpark.
