    What wagon to buy?

It's been awhile since I've been on here, school, bikes etc. I'm looking for a car to supplement my E30. I'm going to be commuting about an hour to an hour and a half into Philly and would really like something that has decent a/c, very few quirks (my e30 has a bunch of quirks) and something that won't give me any shit.

I've primarily focused on Subaru wagons but trying to find one that is 5spd is proving difficult. What are your thoughts on Audi A4 wagons, Saab wagons etc?
I'd love to find an e39 wagon but I really want stick and I'm worried about ridiculous upkeep costs.

    What are your thoughts R3V?

Mazda 6 wagon...cheap to buy, Japanese reliability, large interior space, Good gas milage from 2.3 4 banger (although only available in automatic)

VAG products are not very reliable and parts are expensive
BMW E46 Touring....quite rare, premium prices
SAAB + again have reliability issues, expensive parts
Subaru wrx...Good choice, get one that has not been modified

I love my e39 wagon but good luck finding one in a manual, I spotted my 2001 525iT/5 speed with 100k on Craigslist 2.5hours away and bought it the next morning.

Mine doesn't require a ton of upkeep but it is a BMW, there will be more maintenance costs than a similar japanese make.

You can find WRX wagons in 5spd on the cheap these days with 100k+ miles.
Everyone always talks shit about VAG products (audi, VW), but most have never owned one and have no basis in their opinion other than hearsay. Friend has an 05 A4 wagon with 1.8t, and other than being slow, its never had a single problem. I own a mkv GTI 2.0t with DSG and love it, and would not hesitate to but a new A3 wagon.
                              All depends on your budget
