paypal and bank accounts

I want to change banks, especially since there is a wells fargo literally a couple blocks from where i live. Use another bank right now that is tied to my paypal.
If i just close my account at my bank, will my paypal account cease to work until i attach another to it? I dont have a credit card, and i think i remember people saying you can attach it to a card, well thats not an option. I have a paypal debit card so i can withdraw money from my paypal account whenever, and use my card anywhere.
Inquiring minds need to know!

You'll still be able to send money which is already part of your paypal balance, but that's it.

then simply add a new bank, and they will send you like 2 cents, and 5 cents, and re verify it

Do NOT do this, you will basically be starting over, which will kill your PP debit card.

First, go start new local bank account, get debit card for it. Wait for the card to get to you, and activate it BEFORE you do ANYTHING else.

Attach that account to your PayPal, and the debit card too.

Once it shows as attached, make it "primary" for your Paypal account.

Then (generally wait 24 hours between steps) remove the old account from your PayPal.

Don't forget: they now have kick ass customer service for calling...get a "web PIN" before you call, you will be amazed how little they suck.

I switched banks a couple months back. PayPal didn't even know the account was closed as I never tried to transfer money in/out to the closed account. After I got my new debit card, I just did what Luke said by adding it and making it primary. No issues at all.
