Iraq war vet dies on ride...

My father told me about this when I got up this morning. I was on that ride 5 days before he was there.

That was my thinking. I can't imagine how a lap restraint system could work if you only have part of one leg left.

Either way, fucking terrible to see that this guy was nearly killed in Iraq, spent three years in rehab, then this is the way he goes.

The paper that wrote that is wrong on the location. The park is REALLY 10 minutes from Buffalo xD They were off by 3 hours haha.

The park should not be held at fault, the person running it should be fired or something. Bigger question is why was the Vet so fucking dumb? The Ride of Steel is a leg restraint ride. So in his head he sould have been like "I have no legs, this is not the ride for me". Then went across the park to the Mind Eraser, that ride is a chest restraint and crotch buckle(like a 5 point).

Everyone sues and never remembers that most of the time fault lands on the person that never thought it out. All I am saying is he is a 29 year old man and should have known better.

Personally this is my favorite ride at the park. The force when you go over the hills is nuts. It will LIFT the whole damn carts off the track and use the bottom rollers. I am 6'6'' 240lbs and I am ripped upwards and held in by my legs.

The people that run the rides are not that old, so I think they waved him through out of feeling bad for him. That was wrong and they should be held for that alone. It is THEIR job to allow people to ride and not to ride. It does not matter who they are or what they have been through. There is rules for safety and I feel they did not up hold them like they should have been.

I remember two years ago a fat guy was not allowed on because he could not get the leg restraint and lap belt tight enough.

And my thoughts don't sway my feelings on him serving our country. I have the highest respect for their service.

I kinda agree both ways, the dude shouldnt have went on the ride, but the people operating it shouldnt have let him on either. But god knows the uproar they woulda caught from saying NO, you can't go on.

Last two posts pretty much sum up my opinion of this. A grown man should have enough common sense to realize that if he's missing a part of his body essential to keeping him locked into a ride, maybe he should stay off the ride. I realize the workers are there to enforce safety, but come on! Owners of the park shouldn't be coughing up millions because one individuals stupidity results in their own death.

i can tell you one thing, if i had no legs, i sure as hell wouldn't get on a roller coaster that only had lap restraints.... thats like common sense whats gonna happen when you're going hella fast and go over a roller that gives you butterflies...... no disrespect to the dude, he was a war vet and a father he should be honored and missed dearly. but he should have made the decision not to go on the ride.

Ive had a similar experience... MY LEG CAME OFF at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on the one coaster. Hahaha scray ride for me, holding on to a 10 pound appendage.

On some rides, prosthetics arent allowed to be worn. Makes total sense. I support the guy for dealing with his disabilities, and getting out there with his kids and having fun... but yeah I personally would have not ridden it if I were a double AK amputee.

My condolences go out to his family.

Horribly written article. Darien Lake is not even close to Syracuse.

Anyway I've been on that ride a million times, and it was stupid to let him ride. You are basically held in entirely by your legs.
