if i ever had a hyrbid...

Not gonna lie the new honda cr-z's are pretty sexy IMO...
and check out this video of a tuned one, pretty weird.

i still don't like the idea of hybrids, especially how the battery is so contradictory to the whole "green" image and it also cost shit loads of money when they go out after a certain amount of time.

but i do say this car has good looks for a hybrid, and i do like the interior and how there is a manual trans option, unlike the prius.
    whut does r3v think.

ugly as fuck. better off getting an old CRX. weighs less, more fun to drive, and will return similar mileage as the without all the hybrid crap.

the old cr-x's are ugly as shit bean mobiles. but then again i'm from a town in california with 60% of the population being mexican and having super lame brown riced out, very untasteful cars. many of them being cr-x's haha.

whatever. if given a choice of a mint CRX or a brand new CRZ, id take the CRX. Just like i'd take a mint E30 325IS over a brand new E92 M3. I hate new cars.

^^^ i get what your saying, i would make the same choice as well. i prefer most cars in the older form then the newer as well.
all i'm saying is the cr-z is pretty cool for a hybrid. it has good looks and is nice.

The choice between a CRX and CRZ would be tough for me.

I daily an Insight 1 for work.. not the 4 door Insight 2. The OG with a 5 speed. I get 65MPG combined city/hwy. I have cruise control installed on it and cruise at 65 on the highway all the time. It's not a race car, I don't need it to be a race car, I don't expect performance out of it. It pays for itself within a year in my position.

When you drive ~2400 miles a month for work and get reimbursed for your mileage at $0.55/mile, what would you drive? I can tell you that I enjoy getting paid over $1100 every month on top of my salary after the gas I have used, insurance, and maintenance costs have been taken into consideration.

Everybody has their take on the "what ifs" in relation to the battery. These same people also don't understand that the IMA battery is made up of a series of stacked D cell batteries with tabs welded onto the terminals at either end. Each stick is individually replaceable and some people have made their own with high discharge/recharge rate D-Cells.

If you want to buy a complete, working battery pack, with balanced cells, you can find them for under $600 without looking too hard. $450 if you know where to get them.

If you want to take it to the dealership and buy a new pack and have them bolt it in for you.. $2500+

The replacement procedure isn't worth the money IMO. The battery pack has only a few heavy gauge connectors that hook it into the IMA motor and controls. Other than that it is a self contained steel plated box with a breaker switch on the side and about 4 bolts that hold it in.

This car has its purpose guys.

PS, my I1 still has all of the original cells in the battery pack. It has been grid balanced once to ensure they are all in good health. That would make it 11 years old.

When it does throw an error one day, it will be because a single cell has failed and overheated. When that happens, far from now, I will pull the stick that failed and replace it with a brand new one for $45; grid balance the pack, and be back in business.

IMHO people should hate on the "green" marketing, not the hybrid (or pure electric) tech.

element sounds like you know what you're doing! kudos to you, what can you do with the singe cell once its failed and removed? where can you dispose of it.
