All these people talking about "being someone's bitch" and not making money don't understand that learning a trade isn't over night and if it was; it wouldn't be a trade. You can make money, not baller money learning the trade. I'm "someone's bitch" for the railroad and will make over 40k. To the high school kids that don't know shit will think that's nothing they're morons and to the ballers on this site (theres probably 5-10 of them)they can respect me being 26 and making that. I am learning a trade, something that this instant gratification culture does not understand. Be safe and be smart and your body can handle your job as long as you stay fit and eat right. My dad is 50 years old, been digging ditches and repair water valves for 30 years and is starting to break down but he'll say if he ate better when he was younger, his body would be better now.

I was a server, a swim instructor, and a farm laborer along with being a part time parent while going to school; keep your job bartending 3-4 nights a week and go to tech school 3-4 days a week you can do it and you can succeed. Go learn how to weld; its a good trade.

My comment was not so much as being someones bitch, but its where you have to start to learn the trade, I thought I had been clear enough on that. That said if I could get on with the RR here with BN outta my local district, I would take the 50%+ cut in pay to be home 4-5 nights a week.

A girl I knew in college, who dropped out, is now working as a dive welder. Good money as I understand, and she is pretty hot too. Not weird welder goggle dork fetish hot, but actually legitimate. I don't think it is a trade that will be downsizing any time soon

            lol gotcah

Nothing wrong with apprenticing, I think its a far more effective way to train people to do a job, ANY JOB than sending them off to college to "learn it".

My next job I am looking forward to as my Auditor is one those guys with little to NO field experience, so this is going to be a long job lol.

Better yet go to school to become a welding inspector. Better working conditions and god pay. I think our rate is something over 400/day

your CWI I take it. API says 5 years related experience to get your CWI certs unless its a PCWI and then I think its still 2 years.

Most places in PA if you are wanting to travel are pushing 550-650 a day and up rumors are that ND is on par or a little better on the perdiem rates as there is NO PLACE to stay and if you can get a room its $$$.

the junk in the lungs thing is kinda scary.
Im 28, and yeah i was in the Corps, but Id like to avoid as much internal poisoning that i can if thats even possible.

maybe the suggestions to get the lathe learn some sheet metal fab etc etc may be a better way to go, as well as a independant air source air mask
I can run Auto Checks on VINs for tips/donations:
