I read about this quick fix a few years back on a vw forum and never thought I was gonna need the info I read. So glad I put this useless info to use yesterday.
My car is lowered a tad in the front. About 3.25 inches to be exactish. The front oil pan got a bit hungry yesterday going into a parking lot and decided to nom on some of it. I came out of the parts store with a bunch of parts for my other e30 undergoing a swap and discovered a puddle under my car. I didn't remember parking over a puddle so I went to check it out.
Sweet oily goodness draining out in a constant stream. YAY....... Run back across the street to a supermarket and buy a bar of irish spring soap. Grab rag from car to wipe of oil pan best I can and start to scrape the bar of soap over hole in oil pan. Leak stops I wipe pan off and bar of soap off to clean up more oil. Rescrub oil pan with bar of soap. Top oil level up and off home I go to fix problem properly.
In other great news my black e30 roared to life with the first turn of the key. Now to reroute fuel lines correctly and tuck some wire for a cleaner install.
