My first car was a Ford Taurus wagon, and it went for almost 400,000 and got like 25mpg

I wouldn't get a FWD car for winter.
      But if you have to...
      5th gen Accord...

Again, I don't fit in the Volvos, or I would. I really like them, but if I don't fit...

I know it will probably eat more gas than I expect. We'll see if I can find any way to improve mileage.

I've thought about the accord/corolla/civic wagons and I like them, but they can't tow anything. And all of the ones in my area are beat to shit. It will be a winter beater/dd of sorts, and I don't want it to be totally rusty. And parts are dirt cheap for this thing. Then again, I guess fuel cost might make up for that.

The only thing that has really caught me off guard is the insurance. It's actually more than the E30 is to insure, and the cappy would only have minimum coverage. Go figure. Maybe the combination of no ABS, big engine, and the ability to carry a lot of people is an issue.

Gotta be the cleanest 5th gen accord o've ever seen, by the way, ix sounds like a good route, and I might be selling mine pretty soon here.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I'm looking to spend less than $1000 initial cost. It's a true beater search, in a way, and in the midwest, there just aren't really any rust free good deal cars at that price point....certainly not an iX or that really clean 5th gen accord...

If I can find one that I can't stick both feet through the floorboards...
