This is my first E30 project- I always tinkered with cars - blame dad lol before he passed away he just got me into working alongside him with afew classic car projects..I helped with a C3 Vette and some of his buddies projects. That helped me understand the simple procedures of how to change filters, wires, relays, fuses.. little shits, you know?
I've worked out some of the small issues with the IX and I'm personally taking responsibility of the interior, wiring and small engine stuff or what the Bentley manual helps me out with.. I wish someone could teach me the guidelines of what needs to be specifically maintained on this car.. I just want to give this car the dignity it deserves. the forum has helped me diagnose afew problems and saved me lots of time and effort!!
When I recieved the car the trans case shit the bed like that- then the right front axle went so those got fixed by a trusted shop..now I have perfect LSD and it handles way better!
My three main long term focuses are Engine, Body and learning upkeep..
Engine - it seems to be a clean little fucker and my tech that works on my other bims say it's sound.. but something seems off- there's a delay on response (acellerarion petal literally is alittle sticky lol) they just told me it's an old car and that's that.
I suspect I need my valves readjusted, maybe a good chip and everything looked over- Im just looking for it to be the way it should be..
Body- no rust really. Two or three dots around the kidney grille area and one thumbprint sized blemish near the trunk's latch - no biggie - the paint is good just dull- wetsand is a definite. Going to get a replica tech II kit from Abrhams when I have the $$
Other than that, I can't wait til i can fully enjoy and respect this car - not having to worry about so much crap besides the usual matinence and upkeep
:)
I just sat at a stop sign for 10 minutes waiting for it to turn green.Comment
