My mom texted me while I was at work saying the local police were at my house looking for me, I was a little freaked out, then she said someone found my plate and thought it might be some important diplomat plate so they brought it to the police station, the police ran the numbers as an Illinois plate and it came back to me so they hand delivered it to my house. I lost it about a week ago in a bad rainstorm when I hit a few big puddles. It is a little beat up but back in my possession so I am happy.

That's mildly weird.
My plates are the same numbers as the original German license plates that were on my car back in the really early 90s when my aunt/uncle owned it.
They kept the old German plates, so I got the same number done on the EU style plates
