    Anyone ever raffle a car?

    Guys,

Thinking of Raffling off my E30 M3 instead of selling it or Ebay?

I know this has been done in the past with the NGP Rallye Golf; they raffled 500 tickets at 100.00 a peice in 2006. I was thinking 1000 tickets at 50.00?

Any thoughts or tell me I am crazy? BTW this would be done through a company who does raffles and a large amount of the proceeds would go to a charity which would be my next things to reseach (Maybe do a poll of 4 good charities for the R3V, E30tech and S14 guys to choose)

    Thanks,

    Tyler

Edit: if its through a company then im sure itll be fine!

make sure to check with your local laws..

i had a buddy who was all set to raffle his wagon off and i had the idea to check some rules and it turned out it was a big no no in Arizona.

Its a great idea though because you could easily make the same or more money then you wanted to get. they just have some weird rules when it comes to giving shit away

I am working on this a bit. The raffle may be 50k total but I would only be taking about a third (my asking price for the car) the rest would cover fees with hopefully the bulk to a charity.

Again this is just a thought, not even sure what the rules are and I did some reading for the WA laws and it may be a no go right off the bat.

it would be funny as hell if only a few people bought tickets xD Most people that own e30s bitch about spending 1k on a suspension lol

I have been wanting to do this for awhile now. There was a guy on s14.net a few years back that passed away (from leukemia I think). I wanted to buy his car and then have it raffled off. Unfortunately someone close to his family bought the car, drove it a little, then sold it off to make a buck.

I'd like to have a go at it again when time & money permits, PM me if you need any help. I have no experience dealing with the raffling company but can help sell tixs. I'll even buy a few.

Haha, I was going to do this with my E36 M3. My plan was to sell 100 tickets at $100/ea. That way I could get $10k for my car that, on the market, would only fetch around $7k. Also gives people a good chance at winning (1% vs 0.0001% on a lot of things) and it would have been decently affordable for most.

At the end of the day, someone could have walked away with a car for $100. Never went through with it b/c I thought I'd get ragged on too much. lol

I think my buddy Brandon won that Rallye raffle. Then promptly blew it up

Edit: Just did a quick google search, and indeed, it is the same guy. Hilarious.

I will be in to purchase a ticket or 2. Now that I have to sell my ///M to keep the business afloat. It would be nice to keep it up and still be able to have an ///M if I won. Damn Am I hating life right now.
