Selling my PS3 today to buy another 360. I"m only doing that for this game :/
So quick question, have they fixed that goddamn RROD yet???
Are you kidding? that was fixed with the second updated 360. They are on a 3rd update(cooling upgrades) on the older model. And now there is a BRAND new slim design with a internal 250gb HD. Also comes with built in WiFi, touch controls, 120hz vs the old 60hz. It is faster and runs SOOOO quite.
I bought a Xbox 360 Elite when I found FORZA 2 Ultimate Collection. This was probably 2 years ago, maybe a little more. I keep it well ventilated and I don't leave it on when I'm not playing. I do play for hours at a time occasionally, and I have never had a problem with it. I think a lot of it is just taking care of the unit, and making sure it does not overheat. <crosses finger> <knocks on wood> <salt over shoulder>

I keed you not, I stopped paying attention to the 360 after I went through 4 RROD :hitler:
I'm probably gonna pick up the 250gb slim one once the kid comes to pick up my ps3.

I always ran my aftermarket cooling fan on mine, never let it run when not in use, and rarely played for longer than 2hrs at a time, and the fucking POS always got the RROD. Typically right after I got a new game I'd been dying to play..
Wanna know how to NOT get RROD? leave in a open area so it can stay cool. Microsoft did not provide enough area to cool the system correctly(fixed on the 2nd update) took them a couple of years. I personally upgraded the fans and removed the plastic air director. With the upgraded fans and plastic removed it cools it down very well.
I also dust clean it once a month. I know how to remove the stickers to avoid ruining the coverage. So if something like the drive breaks I can get it fixed for free. But it has ran out and I no longer care, so I repair it like a normal computer. Everything interchanges so it is a simple machine to clean and service.

250gb slim is the way to go =)
Also that cooling fan that plugs into the back is a source of RROD. Oddly enough it pulls power what the 360 needs to run, thus making it work harder and heat up MORE. If you are going to cool one down I suggest using a laptop cooling station that blows upwards. That way it cools the board down while the internal fans cool the other parts.
I must have gotten a shitty unit or something, cause mine was sitting on a wire shelf (plenty of air flow available), next to an air vent and it still got effed up. Guess I'll just make sure to clean the vents out to prevent dust build up.

Open that bad boy up and clean out the metal fins. They get packed full of dust over time from heating up in moist seasons(causing dust to stick). Use a can of computer air duster. You will need a trq screw driver to remove the bolts, a flat head and SMALL ass flat head to pop the locking teeth in the rear.. That is all =)
I got hooked on rebuilding electronics when I was younger. Mostly out of growing up in a lower pay house hold. So it was fix the toys or play with rocks xD
My soundslike its going to take off its so loud. Much louder after getting it fixed after the rrod.
Do you own the slim model? If not it will not be quite xD
Slim is the BRAND NEW 360 design with even better cooling and faster cycle per second response time for your tv playback(120hz instead of old 60hz). Another USB port, instant data transfur, you can EVEN use a hard drive from some laptops to boot up on the 360. Just pull out the 250gb drive and swap in the compatible drive. It is amazing on power usage etc. All around this is the BEST console and bang for your buck.
You can see the difference in size with the old model on the bottom.
