    Anyone using Google Music Beta?

I just got an invite to Google Music from my brother, and before I install it and upload my entire library, and let this thing arbitrarily take over my music library and the way I use it, I wanted to know how many others are using it, and what your thoughts/likes/dislikes are on it.

I'm using Windows7, and have an Android 2.3 Gingerbread HTC G2.

It took 8 days to upload the 20k song limit, I like it a lot, it's nice to have access to nearly all my music anywhere I have internet. it is much better about finding album art than itunes was. I'll let you know more after I use it a few more weeks.

Im not letting google have control of my music.

its a bit too big brotherish, My tinfoil hat deploys into its raised and locked position whenever a large entity such as Google wants to "make my life easier" by letting it manage my personal property.

and theyll just try and market stuff towards me based on what music i have. no just no.

Not that I've seen, but if you develop it and only charge .99 in the itunes store you'll likely become an overnight millionaire. ;)

On a more "on topic" note, I use itunes at home b/c it does well with my Sonos system and the appleTVs in the bedrooms. Google music is useless to me at home, but as soon as I find my self somewhere else and want access to MY music I have found google music to be a much better interface and much faster at sorting the bulk of my music. I typically listen to either Pandora or I heart radio while I'm at work but occasionally I'm in a mood for something strange I know is in my collection at home. John Williams Conducting the Boston Pops playing the theme from Star Trek IV for instance. Or last year when we were at my relatives house and all they had was single Christmas album by Christina Agulara and wanted to leave it on repeat in the background all weekend! Had I had my google music then I have several dozen classic christmas albums that I can at least stand to listen to.

As to google's intensions I just assume they are like the borg and that resistance is futile. :borg:

Been using it since 8 hours after the announcement. Its fucking tits. I have an android tablet and phone so its well integrated into those. I love having it cloud sync'ed. I cache my most favorite stuff locally so I can listen on planes and such but the rest of it is all on-line only. That gets the space dedicated to music on my phone/tablet from 8+gigs to about 500 megs, more room for videos and other shit.

I ended up getting one of those Logitech Revues when they dropped it to $100 and I am really hoping the android update unleashes the cloud services on it. If that is the case I would only power up the computer for business.
                          Im now E30less.

The program you install on your computer doesn't do anything to the files on your computer. All it is is a bridge used to upload all your music online. Even the actual user interface is all online. That's why you can use it from any computer, anywhere.
