That's what I'm getting at. Me, I'll take a Leini's any day. Red, Honey, Creamy Dark, or Northwoods. Can't go wrong.

BTW, Cheers to you Kanucks for the Molson! Excellent!

Its pretty packed here right now, alot of people who left N.O. are staying here. Gas is a big shortage right now from the mad dash to fuel up before the storm and now with all the extra vehicles in town, and a good deal of people are still w/o power. However we missed the full brunt of the storm, so things aren't too terrible.
Most of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc... live in and around the N.O. area so its going to be real tough for my family for the next few months.

I'm glad the cops are letting people take food from stores now. It's going to go bad anyhow, and people are starving down there. Fuck the people stealing TVs and shit though...

Saw on tv not sure which news station that a group of locals just went into a destroyed bar helped themselves and tryed to make the best of things without thinking about the damage right outside.

Nobody expected things to be as bad, but they need all the help they can get. I heard that Firefighters here are on their way over, a good thing since from what I can tell they need it alot more then being standby when two cars collide on a residential street. Gas is bad, but first thing to do is worry about all the people and how they are going to get past this.

Reminds me that someday I need to make a big emergency kit - clothes, water, some MRE's or something that lasts for ever. Of course a bottle of rum or something to pass the time and keep off the cold. A handgun wouldn't be a bad idea either. First aid kit to take care of myself when I shoot my self in the foot....

there's a whole society of 'survivalists' out there, and right now on tons of forums, people are discussing contents of "bug out" bags, or SHTF equipment.

Branden and Jonathan-good to hear you two are ok. Here in south MS things are pretty tough at the moment, but at least I still have a home-albeit with no power and a few holes all the way thru the roof-but I do have hot water so that is good. The gas situation is pretty bad here too. I have less than a quarter of a tank left and from what I hear they are going to open a few gas stations here in town today to help take care of the three hour wait at the lines.

I still have not been able to get in touch with RCWells or Alecs yet. Hopefully they will be getting their cellphone towers up very soon.

I have been through a number of hurricanes and bad storms over the years, but this one is beyond words.

                              This is incredible.

BTW, I recommend everybody watch the CNN online video with the latest interview with the mayor. Just blows me away.

A fed-up Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco warned the lawbreakers that extra troops have already arrived in the city, and others are on the way -- and "they're locked and loaded."
She said Thursday night that 300 soldiers from the Arkansas National Guard had arrived -- "fresh back from Iraq."

"These are some of the 40,000 extra troops that I have demanded," Blanco said. "They have M-16s, and they're locked and loaded ... I have one message for these hoodlums: These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so if necessary, and I expect they will."
You really have to think of what you say in conditions like this when you have a position of power. She is going to be regretting saying that. I mean honestly it's good finally relief is getting to them with the convoys, but when you send 40,000 troops and saying a statement like that what the hell are those poor people going to think?

Yes there is violence and just plain horrible things happening, but you can't make the generalizing thought that everyone there is like that. It's good some people are speaking out and saying it is still a relief effort not Iraq. Number one priority should probably be carry out an effective relief effort now, since nothing can be done with the lost time. Best wishes to those effected.
