    Upstate flood damage

Hello fellow BMW friends, I would like to share the flood damage that happened to locals like FrankM and I.

Frank and I are fine, we are among the people that live high enough to keep from water reaching us. I went out to see the damage this morning and a trailer park 15mins away got washed OUT. So many people lost their homes and more lost them to future damage from water rot and damage. So pray or say a few words to bless these people in need.

Just 1min away from my house the creek removed a two lane road via sucking the under road water tunnel. After that was removed it smashed into the train tracks gutting the underside and leaving just the ties and tracks. Only reason they stayed was the spikes into them. Everything else is tore away.

I have pictures of my own but no way to upload.

This is a public facebook album, you can scroll through them to see how bad it is. This is my home town where I shop and go on a everyday outing.

Video of damage if it works. I was standing on that pipe today, it took that MASSIVE pipe and threw it over 300 feet away.

    Ninja add

My brother and I have been building a MASSIVE BMX dirt trails. The flood just removed 2 years of building 8 footers and MASSIVE berms.

I feel for those there, and wish them luck rebuilding.

But, I have to be honest here. The first thing I though was "Damn... Maybe I should start a construction company in Binghampton"

I'm a terrible person.... But my thoughts are with those that lost so much.
I'd like to think that balances things out.

How far upstate was the flooding? This kind of thing doesn't really make the news in Oregon, and I still have a lot of friends in Ithaca (where I went to school). Maybe I need to call some people.

I ran across these pictures from Vermont. http://www.mansfieldheliflight.com/flood/

I had heard in the news that Vermont hasn't seen flooding of this nature in 100 years..

1" per hour for 4 days straight. We have level marks on the train trestles. They are marked to 11ft then there is 3'+ to the bottom of the tracks. The water was about 3" below the metal bridge walls. In the life years of living here I have seen it ONLY once that close. That was back in 06 and we broke that record and the 100 year record too.

I know Ithica got hit bad(Cornell is right there with them). Syracuse is about 45min away, so I am sure they got it too. Not sure about Poughkeepsie.

Nothing happened in Buffalo. Any flooding here would be an improvement anyway.
