    New Kindle Deals (Awesome)

Personally, I'm stoked for the fire. Going to be ordering mine up once I get paid. Hello streaming video for dirt dirt cheap!

You could buy every Kindle in the lineup for only $26 more than a single iPad 16GB WiFi costs.

That's how absurdly low the prices are.

    The New Kindle
runs $79 and ships TODAY. No keyboard, newer e-ink screen, WiFi only.

    Kindle Touch
runs $99, Kindle Touch 3G runs $149. They don't ship until November 21. Preorders start today.

    Kindle Fire
runs $199 with a dual-core processor, 7" screen, and WiFi only. They don't ship until November 15. Preorders start today.

This is a pretty huge leap forward for the top end of the Kindle line; I'm not too sure about the keyboardless models, but I'm a pretty huge keyboard guy anyway.

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing that as well, they've been doing some consistently great things

The Fire looks pretty awesome at that price point but I'm getting sick of hearing how it is the iPad's competition. It can't be competitive to a product that has a grip more features.

They are not competitive, 2 different markets & intended uses imo, and I love my Kindle. Amazon daily deals ftw, I got Bike Snob NYC for a buck or something a few weeks ago, today it was Breakfast of Champions.

The fire is basically an android tab with some customization, does everything the ipad can?

The fire looks amazing. Do you know if one has to be on WIFI for the data to work? I would assume so. Also curious about whipersync and if that would work with a mac connected to an external display.

This looks very very tempting as I was vaguely thinking about an iPad.

I love my kindle. e-ink will put books out of print. It is so natural to read and easy on the eyes vs a computer screen

Speaking of which, have you found a good way to convert non kindle format books?

I haven't even gone down that road yet. Between the 20 or so print books on the "to read shelf", and the 10 books I've bought (or downloaded free if old) that are waiting in what has become my "digital to read shelf". My problem is that I buy books a lot, and they pile up faster than I can read them. Thankfully the kindle is cutting the clutter aspect of this down. Last time I moved, my wife told me to get rid of 6 of my bookshelfs and "keep two". Made a decent pile of money selling them to powells and then proceeded to buy even more. I'm sticking to the two bookshelf rule though. The only print books I buy anymore are generally reference reloading manuals or art books.

I'm trying to avoid the used book shop.

I jumped on this after seeing the new prices this morning and decided to order a 3G Kindle Keyboard. I figure it will pay for itself after one semester of using e-book textbooks.

How the heck did Amazon negotiate free 3G access for the Kindle? Even though its not data heavy content, free use of a network is quite impressive.

Here is a good resource for Kindle: http://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/
