    Headphones

Fellas, I need some headphones and don't know my ass from my head when it comes to them. That said, I'm looking for recommendations and I figure there is probably a large group of audiophiles here. Criteria as follows, any advice welcome:

    1) Budget is $50, could stretch to $75 or even further if it was going to make a big difference
    2) Mostly used for music, specifically jazz, blues, and bluegrass
    3) Used in close proximity(10ft) to my coworkers, so it can't leak too much sound
    4) Not a big fan of ear buds
    5) Preferably won't damage my already shitty hearing

    Thanks in advance.

Get a pair of used Audio Technica ATH-A700 on ebay... i got mine for $36 + shipping, $20 for some new pads and I had basically new headphones. They're extremely comfortable, leak no sound, have excellent sound stage.

or, some other kind, but don't discount the used high-grade headphone market.

In my experience Grados are uncomfortable and leak sound, and Sennheiser HD-280 (a common recommendation) basically vice-grip your head together.

      ^thanks. I hadn't considered used but now I might.

I've heard good things about the Panasonic HTF600 as well. I'd be curious to hear feedback if anyone has tried them.

I have sony mdr-xb700 extra bass headphones.

First I bought fakes from ebay for $60 (didn't know they where fakes)

They don't sound bad, they just feel like expensive headphones.

Then I bought the real deals for $100. Love them to death. I bought these to see how the bass lines in songs would sound in my car.

If interested I can sell you my fakes for $30 shipped
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

If you're willing to stretch your budget by about $10 you're in Sony 7506/MDR-V6 territory if you don't mind buying online. They're pretty much the standard for the music industry for sound studios, radio and more for an affordable headphone that packs a serious punch, it blows everything else out of the water at that price point.
