They're sitting on their hands about the rapes, murders and sensless looting, but it takes five of them to take down and harass a 75 year old white woman.
Yep. I fear if I go further into my thoughts on this whole NOLA mess, I'm gonna piss a lot of people off.
I'm starting to lose a lot of faith in more and more Americans, and not just the ungrateful assholes we're going into debt to save. Too bad canadian gun laws suck. At least I'm still in the south I guess...
I saw the "arrest" on TV the other day- the lady was refusing to leave her flodded house, and waving an old pistol around while 3-4 VERY patient and VERY polite police officers were trying to convince her to leave with them. She kept saying "I don't want y'all to even be here"...Like I'm sure the cops really wish they were there too. They eventually had to wrestle her down to get the gun away (it very well could have been a danger to her or the cops)- and to get her out of that house.
I find it amazing that you guys can criticize the cops in this situation, CLEARLY trying to help these people, protecting them from themselves in many cases. I'm sure they's probably rather be at home wacking it to some internet porn like you guys, but they're actually trying to HELP, believe it or not.
Next time something shitty happens to you or one of your friends, I'm sure you guys will be the first to call the cops, and then say "there's never a cop around when you need one".......

You didn't "get it".
They're removing an old woman from her house. This isn't the cops, this is the government structure behind it. These people aren't homeless, they have food and supplies as well as a roof over their heads, there's no point in uprooting them. These aren't the people that didn't plan, evacuate, and have gotten stuck behind. These aren't the people that are resorting to looting television sets, killing each other and raping 12 year old girls.

No, I "got it".
These folks are heartbroken and scared shitless at the thought of leaving their homes, probably to never return again (at least not to the homes they once knew), and they're willing to fight to stay. Problem is, they can't live in those conditions- no matter how well prepared they are.
It just amazes me how people sit back and make snide comments about how the cops are real tough guys when they're just doing what they've been told (spare me the Nazi references.....), and, believe it or not, they're doing this (evacuating everyone) so they can get a better handle on the situation and allow those who want to move back in after the clean up that much sooner.
I hear all this BS about how Bush and the government didnt do enough to help these people evacuate or help. Now when some crazed old lady starts waving a gun around and refusing to leave you give the govt shit for doing to much. Pick a side. Thats why Kerry lost and your the Republicans bitch.

Please go get booted out of your boarding school again Fielding. (god, what sort of name is that?)
Most of us voted for Bush, and I don't think he has a thing to do with this. It's heavy handed crap from FEMA and the local NOLA officials that are ignoring the obvious problem.

wait, I said bush isnt doing enough, now i'm complaining? right.
I find the reporters quote hilarious, especially after three grown men tackled a little old lady. If she wants to shack up in her house and die of ecoli, fuck her, less burden on the social security system. Besides, is this the most important facet of the katrina deal we should be focusing on?
CHP Offers Much-Needed Help In Louisiana
Over one hundred California Highway Patrol officers have arrived in Louisiana after driving across the country in a convoy of more than three dozen four-wheel drive vehicles to help overburdened local law enforcement keep order.
Yessssssss......a little less trouble for me on the freeways!
