gonna test mount it random places and just see what looks the best.

maybe put a sticker on the back about "This vehicle is equipped with a decommission WWII german machine gun, do not be alarmed"
sticker on the back should wa;rn other drivers that you should not be made angry lest you unleash the full fury of your decom machine gun

How about just mount it on the parcel shelf? Doesn't everyone in Texas have a gun mounted in their car? ;)

I think the coolest, most logical use of it would be strapped to your roof rack for shows and what not. Otherwise...

If you do this, be sure to drive with your lawyer in your car at all times.

If you weld the barrel shut at the firing pin, I'm going to out on a limb and say that is permanently inop.
Until you get a new barrel......

You say that the grip, trigger have been removed but did not mention whether or not the rest of the firing mechanism is intact. if it is, It would seem to me that your weapon fall under the article I quoted above, '...can be readily restored to shoot...'

What this specifically has to do with your question? I'm not entirely sure but it may create complications later on.

Down in the outer banks I've seen trucks with heavy weapons mounted in the back. though, I'm sure those are completely decommissioned/no one cares because it's the beach.

this is kinda my take on it.

Just because you CAN (well might be allowed to) does not mean you SHOULD

good point, would have to consider weight balance when the m30 gets droppin there.

The MG is rusty, someone tried to paint it but it is still easy to tell on the inside of the barrel that it was neglected apparantly.

now i was going to remove the grip, trigger, sling and tripod/bipod and sell those to recover some monies from buying it
I wonder if removing the firing pin would be enough to make it truly in-op and mountable. Seeing as how you can with enough know how and equipment turn ANY in-op weapon operational again.
