I'm so glad my ladyfriend isn't car illiterate. She helped her dad restore a little 190e for her to drive, so she knows a decent bit all the way around.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys!
I have been taking her to a few races where my friend Brad Kettler, whose Audi R18 TDI won Lemans this year is working. She has watched Truth in 24 so many times, she's about memorized the dialogue! We were most recently at Petit Lemans where Brad gave us the backstage tour after hours. It was amazing to behold how completely organized that team is to every detail.
Brad bought all the spares when Audi retired the multi-Lemans winning R8, and supports the cars' new vintage racing owners at events. We were at such an event hanging out in the paddock and my daughter was examining the car with it's rear body covers removed. Brad walked over and asked if she had any questions, ready to field a typical 12-year-old-girl kind of question. But she said, pointing to a device above the shock/spring combo "is that how you get shock telemetry"? Brad eyed me suspiciously and asked "did you tell her that?" I said "nope". Brad said "well you're right-those are linear potentiometers....we call them lin-pots, and that's exactly what they do." He then looked at her incredulously and asked "how old are you"? And when she answered, he said "wow. You need to be working for me but I can't hire you until you're 14."
Pretty cool.

I had one of these the other day. My woman drives an E36 318i anyways the low brake fluid light started to flick. She told me about it and I said that it means your brake fluid is low. But she was not convinced. Because the symbol had and "i" in it she thought it was the indicator.
Made me LOL, then she got pissed because I was laughin. lol.sigpic

i guess im a lucky one, my wife helps me in the shop quite a bit. and knows how to maintil her own car. now i do pretty much everything like rebuild a engine for her car a few months back. but she is very helpful when she can. just wish it was more often, i love spending time late night in the garage with the radio on and wrenching with her.

I let the girl drive the M3 home from the brewery a few weeks ago. I was in no condition to drive.
She, totally sober, drove all the way home...1st gear, 2nd gear, FIFTHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was terrible and I berated her the whole way home. Good times. I still bring it up in casual conversation.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5

At 12, she knows how to do a cam-side valve adjustment on my E28 535 start to finish. I just stood there in case I was needed, but she did everything from removing the intake, removing the plugs, gapping and installing new ones, turning the engine with the diagnostic port jumper, and buttoning everything up.... really the whole job.
She wants me to buy an old motor so she can take it apart and reassemble it! That's my girl!
the best is when they just cover up the dashboard with pics to hide the warning lights
