Cant Think Of The Movie Title

Alright so I dont know how to really start by describing this movie. I saw it several years ago and for some reason the only scene that sticks out to me is near the beginning. There is a kid I think a red head, using a hammer to blow up fireworks on a rock. And if I recall correctly he grows up to be a fire fighter?
