I like the Chevy volt better. Its range is 40 miles on electricity before gas kicks in, and you don't have the thought of, "will I make it?" I've driven it the volt and it's actually pretty amazing.

Agreed, it's actually a well done car for it's class.

Plug in electric cars are great, but it just moves the pollution from the exhaust pipe to the electrical power plants. At least cars have strict emission laws to keep them relatively clean. They should put some solar panels on the roof of the car to help charge it while its parked and or driving.

the pollution doesn't come from producing the electricity, it come from manufacturing the batteries themselves

Solar panels cannot produce NEAR enough electricity to be used for propelling a vehicle. while they would help from, say, powering the window motors or some mood lighting in the interior but not much more

I don't think we have coal plants here in the NW. Hydro power doesn't pollute, last time I checked.

way to admit you have no concept of how much power cars use compared to what solar panels make, no concept of power plant efficiency versus typical car.

That's why they came up with the "MPG equivalent" label. Overall, e-cars are still far less polluting and more efficient. I drove a leaf. It had me convinced my next car will be electric. Pretty awesome experience. Solar Panels BTW are cost prohibitive and would take several days to charge the batteries.
