Skied at Eldora the other day for the first time in about 15 years. Was pleasantly surprised by the snow, and I really like the 30 minute drive from home to the slopes. Definitely not as much variety or space as some of the other resorts around here, but in the middle of the week there aren't many people and you can just rip.

Cheers to that!
I skied Bridger last week, it was skiing pretty nice.

Top of the Slushman's lift and ridge access from there. If you haven't heard of the Slushman's lift...... forget I ever mentioned it please and book that trip to Vail or Steamboat. :)

^^ Haha, I'd recognize that ridge anywhere. Still reminds me of reading about Coombs' death in '06 and promptly headed off to Bridger, hard to believe that's already been 6 years ago.
Weekend at Bear was a nice get-away, the wife agreed to take ski lessons.Comment

Just picked up a junky snowboard and am putting gear together for the winter.
Anyone have any guidance as to what kind of board I should pick up? I've only been snowboarding twice but can carve down the mountain pretty well. I've been skateboarding, skimboarding, surfing and wakeboarding forever so hopefully my ceiling is high. I wouldn't mind getting into some park but for now I'm just cruising.
I picked up a morrow 159 with k2 boots and bindings for myself and a brand new morrow 154 for my wife. Got it all for $120. I know it's not very good stuff but my wife has never even snowboarded and I don't know what kind of board I want - so I figured why invest a bunch on startup gear?"We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

Depends on what you do and how you like the feel, do you go all mountain? or just park? do you like a buttery smooth carve, or a bumpy, responsive carve? Do you like speed, or control?
Many questions can be asked. Also Wide vs Narrow size for your shoe size.
If you are looking for decent all mountain boards ride, burton, and forum make some decent ones for 300-600$
Burton makes the blunt and clash, both good starter/intermediate level boards:

Decided to stick with the board I have for now. I was wrong earlier - it's a Lamar and not a Morrow. Same for my wife's board.
Anyways - I went to a Ski/snowboarding expo after work today and pretty much got set up. I think I'm getting started for pretty cheap. Here's a breakdown of what I've picked up:
Vans boots - New (the ones I has were shot) - $50

Rando black goggles - new - $15
Matching black bib and jacket -New, waterproof w/ taped seams - $85 total
Shop brand "Exit real world" gloves - new - $25
Lamar board w/ k2 bindings - used - $80
$255 total
Shit I picked up for my wife:
Lamar 154 board w/ lamar bindings - new - $40
Roxy boots - New - $50

I'm going to let her pick the rest of her shit out.
I know the boards I got aren't the best but I feel like I've scored some incredible deals. Now I just need to figure out how to get all this shit up to the mountain.Last edited by Turf1600; 11-02-2012, 08:10 PM."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

Can anyone recommend my some ski boots? Right now i have old ones that are angled for like downslope racing and its a pain in the ass on rails. Since then Ive been more into park and stuff. Ive got atomic panic twin tips.Originally posted by SagarisHe wasn't around because he spent 7 years in jail for assault.
