    Falling asleep while driving

School was let out an hour early today. It was cloudy (perfect weather for taking a nap). So I'm driving south on Loop 12 in Dallas and I doze off for about 5 seconds. Luckily, I regained focus after hearing a loud scraping noise.

So I get home and realize the damage is not too bad. O well it was a lesson learned. Not a good day for the car, but a touch up on the paint and two trim pieces will fix it.

Also, I need trim pieces (front and rear left panels) PM me please

I did it a couple of weeks after I got my licence. I drove for 16 hours straight, and i dozed off.
Luckily I woke up by the sound of the tires hitting the stripes on the shoulder. I was doing ~60mph, and it was a 200m drop on the right side.

        I'm not that stupid anymore.

Yea... Being 17, it was my first "accident"... on the other hand I'm still clean with no tickets :D
Worst part is that of course the part that I doze off on was the 40 yards that didn't have those rumble strips that make noise
you would think the most important place to have those is on a short bridge

Did this once in the fast lane on the highway. Every blink started to stay closed just a hair longer. Then I hit the rumble strip and was WIDE awake after that. Drove the next 12 miles home in complete alertness.

I never remember the drive into work. Ever.

I fell asleep once for about 10 miles on I81. Straight stretch, knocked out about 9pm coming home from Pa. I roughly know the distance because I remembered the last exit I passed had a chick fil a and I was pissed they were closed in Sundays.

I flipped the fuck out and was wide awake the rest of my trip.

happened to me once, then hit the rumble strip. Since then if i feel my blinks get just a little bit long i pull over to rest or get a coffee or something similar. Scary shit. Also, if a cop pulls you over NEVER use being really tired as an excuse, you can get yourself into even more trouble.

The road did have rumble strips... just not on the 40 yards that I crossed over onto the service lane

Hold your hand out the window (palm forward) if you're tired. Worked for me (along with a few redbulls) when I drove 23 hours straight.

Clearly you are not driving fast enough. I never fall asleep cos I am always driving on the edge!
