Does this happen to anyone else? Back/arm pain after hard sneeze?

So this has been happening to me for the last probably 6-8 years, and I know I should probably go see a doctor rather than asking you Froot Loops, but I'm just curious before I do that if I'm the only freak this happens to.

Sometimes after a really hard sneeze, not every time, but fairly often, I will get a searing pain through my back and/or my arms, to the point where it's difficult to move them. It usually takes about a minute or so for it to completely go away, and until then, I've got fairly limited movement until it goes away. Last night it happened while I was on the couch watching TV, and was isolated to my left arm, and it REALLY hurt until it went away.

I am planning to see a doctor about it, but does this happen to anyone else?

eh not quite, but after i got hurt in the military any time i would cough really hard Id give myself whiplash really easily, doesn't happen anymore (thank god)

doc never told me exactly what was wrong, just that it'd go away eventually

Super, SUPER hard sneezes and hard instasneezes make my entire right arm ache pretty badly for about a minute, yes.
But not my right hand, strangely. Mostly Bicep,Tricep area, with it tingling down to forearm. No movement impedence. But I do lose a fair amount of muscle strength. I've had it happen when holding very heavy objects.

I know why it happens to me though.

Sounds like a problem of the nerve roots. Brachial plexus injury maybe? May need a nerve conduction study (electromyogram) to get to the bottom of it.

See what your primary MD thinks. (S)he'll probably refer you to Sports Medicine or Orthopedics.

You most likely have a disk pushing on a nerve. if your thumb and forefinger go numb its between c5 and c6. if your middle finger or ring finger go numb is between c6 and c7. of course your back will hurt lower down the spine, but these are the end results of a disk pushing a nerve. a hot shower will loosen muscles and help, but for the most part hot showers dont help much, they cant push the disk back into its place or remove the rupture. medicine, traction and surgery as a last resort. get it checked out. i slept in a holiday inn express last night. chucker

First thing that i thought of is that your back/neck area probably tightens up and a nerve gets pinched until you relax again. I'd get your spine looked at, more than likely by a chiropractor, or maybe a massage therapists. Most of the stress in our bodies manifests as back/neck pain and the resulting symptoms like you're experiencing.

But i'm not a doctor, just speaking from my experience after seeing a chiropractor for many years after I injured my neck.

I kinda have the same problem and planning to see a doctor in a week. Thought it'd been caused by my spinal cord ailment.

Sometimes feel that, but more often, i'll get a tightness/pain in my groin. The "taint" area.

That ever happen to anyone else?
