I did a little digging for Winter Blue Sprints to get a better feel for the color.

Tornado Blue... Also an uncommon color.

I think I like the Winter blue more.

In my opinion, Gallo Ochre is one of the all time ugliest colors ever.

That does look good. A pretty classic period look. I knew a guy from Vancouver BC with a perfect white one, low and wide. When did they have the gold lettering on the side and trunk?

He had three little kids at the time - called them Huey Luey & Duey. Put them in the back seat and said it was the perfect size car - he could reach back and smack all three of them if they acted up! (he was a good guy, he wouldn't do that)

And another one in Seattle - I think it was a '63. Blue interior, all original. She was so short she had blocks installed on the pedals so she could reach.

Cool that that random Pikes Peak photo was of some real use to someone. Lucky.

They all should have the script in gold. Mine is, and was repainted that way. I'm not sure if it was painted gold cad plated gold (or something like cad plating.) In the end, as far as I know, the scripts should all be gold.

These are all variations on an 8C 2300 blown straight 8.

I think this car is cool - 1938 2900B Speciale Tipo Le Mans

All about the aero and the power, with that streamliner shape and that back end. Vittorio Jano-designed aluminum 2900 straight 8 with twin blowers. Rear transaxle. Lightweight (Superleggera) body by Touring. And it was very dark maroon, not red.

Lead the 1938 Le Mans by 100 miles at 19 hours. 11 laps, well over an hour lead. Set the lap record.

EDIT!...better info!.... Blew a front tire at 130mph on the Mulsanne, causing extensive damage but didn't crash. It's believed he slowed down without touching the brakes, and probably over-revved it. At 20 hours it broke a valve and withdrew.

"In Italy the coupe received the nickname 'Soffio di Satana' or 'devil's breath'."

After being fully repaired in 1938, then passing though several hands, in the 80s the Alfa factory museum traded a 158 Grand Prix car to get this car back. It was restored to its original dark maroon, and has made several outings to things like Goodwood.

Neighborhood kids are way cute. Or maybe they're the bossman-in-the-sweater's kids. Who brought that new Mustang to Italy and why? Looks like oil changes and gear oil changes in the courtyard. Who needs a fancy shop? Note stack of new race tires on magnesium wheels.

Speaking of that....this 8C 2900B is about to be auctioned at Sotheby's, where they expect to get $15 million. It was the most coolest of the baddest, most glamorous, fastest sports cars you could buy. Custom lightweight body by Touring. 32 Bs were built, no two alike. This is a variation of that big long baby blue coupe from a few pages back. They were rarely red.

Twin-cam, aluminum straight 8 with twin Roots blowers, Weber carbs UNDER the blowers drawing up, central gear-driven cams. Detuned for road use from the race engine's 220hp. Independent suspension.

So elegant, then they start it up and WHAM, what an engine!

It's 1937, there's a depression on, bad guys are about to take over, how can they keep selling these?
