Just to let you guys know southwest is the tits apparently. They don't do their deals on anyones site but I found a one way to SNA for 40 bucks. Woot! (I will confess it was a family member that found it for me) I did have to switch to a wednesday flight but it's worth the savings.

I will search orbitz for a return flight though.

Sleeve I'll check orbitz. Have you found cheaper days during the week to book flights? What is a price worth jumping on? 80 bucks or something? I don't want to gamble wrong and wait too long to book.
Yeah sun, mon, Fri, are the worst Business and vacationers flying out or returning.

tues, weds thurs, and sat (in off peek travel weeks) are the cheapest in my experience

80 bucks is a bit optimistic I think. The longer you wait the more expensive they get in general

    Craigslist - Seattle- http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/for/2734319456.html

Airline ticket anywhere Southwest flys. Also launch www.searchtempest.com and enter airline ticket in the search parameter. These are transferrable and it does not have to be a local person that transfers it so that really widens the market. Good luck. Enjoy Cali!

Orbitz is what I use and I fly almost exclusively on 3 days or less notice and always one way will have 6 such bookings for 2011. From a very small airport to another small one. I have never paid more than 600 for a 1 way and that was booking 21 hours before the flight in the height of tourist season.

Am looking watching as I will prolly be flying early next week and I can get a seat with good arrival time for supper cheap.

If you are flying with someone you could cram yourself into their suitcase.

    Cheapest Way to Fly? Standby???

Hey r3v, I know there is a diverse group of knowledge here and I'm attempting to plan a spur of the moment trip down to California. Just looking for what would be the cheapest way to fly down to John Wayne in Santa Anna.

Is it cheaper to score a one way ticket (what are the best sites for this?) or is it better to walk into an airport and try to find a standby ticket? I'm totally willing to do that option (don't mind sitting in the airport - I'm a college guy) but I have 0 experience or knowledge on this option.

I haven't ever purchased/planned a flight before so sorry for 13 year old questions.
