these things look pretty fun to mess around with. What's the minimal budget needed to get one of these things?

Nitro/electric
On/off road
Drift/touring car/rally
Buggy/monster truck/short course/crawler
Scale (1/10, 1/12, 1/8, etc)
Best place to start if your on a budget is Craigslist. I'd do research before u pull the trigger. Range anywhere from beginner to advanced
Some rc's r better than others when it comes to availability, hop ups, spare parts.

Also depends on how you treat equipment. I got my step kids ( 10 year olds) off road trucks two years ago and they have been broken more than running.
They tend to drive too fast and misjudge corners which result in front ends getting ripped off.
Budget? depends on type of power. Nitro, brushless, brushed motors and who is selling them. Radios and speed controllers are priced pretty good these days.

My nitros are still busted :(
Motors are all blown, spur gears shredded, bent chassis', clutches burnt out. Sigh* money pits. Usually cheaper to just buy more used running cars for parts then spending 10-50$ at a time fixing small parts. When I can get a whole car for 150$ sometimes with tons of extras

I'm running a losi 22b with a velineon and turnigy nano 5800 2c, one in the car and one on the charger. only about 10 minutes downtime between packs, which is perfect to let the motor cool.
BTW, check out WWW.hobbyking.com for batteries. Shipping is sloth-like, but the prices can't be beat.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

My old Traxxas 2.5 which I rebuilt and ran a tank through before I decided to go with a OS.18tm but now it needs a rebuild, and there's no where to run.
More more buying fuel or glow plugs. I love it. I still love my nitro, but it's a shelf queen now.

Anyone play with E-Revo's or brushless monster trucks? Any suggestions for motors?
e30_pare, you'll love the lipo setup, they are a lot of fun and output is way better than a ni-cad battery.
