I lost my best friend april 23rd, 2010 after a long battle with depression, he decided to end his own life. I understand what you're going through and I wish I could tell you it gets easier.

OP I truly can now see how close you are with your friend. I don't think I'm close enough with any of my friends to get a tattoo like that and visa versa. Like Ether-D said above, you can tell his child who he was, keep him alive through those memories and don't ever let anyone tarnish it.

I had a really good friend get killed by an ex girlfriends boyfriend (act of rage). Shot him dead on christmas eve in 2004 as soon as he opened the door. I knew him since 1978 to 2004. Sorry for you loss but remember all the good times you guys had and cherish them for the rest of your life.
