There has got to be a cheaper way to run SolidWorks. I know people who have it at home and I can't imagine they spent $2-3k on their machine.

perhaps for now I will build a machine that is a good start and can always accept a quadro card for SolidWorks later on if need be.Comment

Don't bother with barebones, there's always a better combination somebody can put together from scratch.
Especially considering you don't need an OS, you can build a fairly respectable PC for $600 with some decent power to it. Not all too familiar with SolidWorks so I can't comment on that.
Also, HP sucks. Had to get that out there.'86 325es M50Comment

Here is your mobo and cpu.

Im running this exact thing and im pushing 4.7ghz on air overclocked.
What about this one? Is this one better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.797219Comment

Processor does better in benchmarks, motherboards look to be pretty equivalent aside from the Gigabyte Mobo having the Intel Smart Response, which I haven't actually looked into but they're claiming some pretty steep claims from. The Asus has tons of positive reviews though, and as dumb as this may sound(because the average reviewer on NE has not a clue of what they're talking about), it always plays a factor in what Mobo I decide on buying. What about this one? The combo deals are something you can certainly take advantage of as opposed to barebone kits, they usually genuinely have some good savings to them just for buying some products together.'86 325es M50Comment
