Don't bother with barebones, there's always a better combination somebody can put together from scratch.
Especially considering you don't need an OS, you can build a fairly respectable PC for $600 with some decent power to it. Not all too familiar with SolidWorks so I can't comment on that.
Also, HP sucks. Had to get that out there.'86 325es M50

The combo deals are something you can certainly take advantage of as opposed to barebone kits, they usually genuinely have some good savings to them just for buying some products together.'86 325es M50
