Going to Puerto Vallarta, what to do?

Me and the gf are going to PV at the end of March, staying at the Sheraton Vallarta.

Any recommendations on places to go etc?

I thought the point of going to a beach resort, was to sit on the beach, relax and stay intoxicated.

I suggest a swim up bar, that's about the amount of effort I'd be putting in if I did a resort vacation. Oh, and not getting shot by cartel.

Too much effort even, need to stay at a Sandals' level resort so there are waiters/waitresses getting your drinks for you.

You don't realize your hammered until you stand up to go jump in the ocean.

it's her parents time share so it's not all inclusive. So there will be lots of going to different restaurants and checking out different things.

Here's one thing I've planned already that I'm stoked about:
Explore Puerto Vallarta's stunning coastline on a thrilling dune buggy tour. Visit the Botanical Gardens and El Baston Del Rey Tequila factory, indulge in body surfing, snorkeling, and beachside shopping in Mismaloya. Unforgettable adventure awaits in Vallarta!

Ripping around in dune buggies through the forest.

                  Go to Walmart....

actually, last time I was there I hit up some deep sea fishing and caught a few Dorado. Lots of fun as long as the fishing boat is comfy

Dont go to the marina for dinner. Fucking time share bandits. Go to old town and eat in little shithole places with the locals. Get on a bus and go to mismalloya. spend a day there on the beach and they will take good care of you. I ride the buses everywhere down there. People are awesome and its totally safe if you are wise. The blue shrimp is expensive but a must if you love shrimp. Go there once. I have lists of all my favorite restaurants. Im glad to share some but they may not be what you like. I like local places. Ive been going there for 20 years.

I went to PV long ago and remember a few cool things.

They filmed Predator in the hills up behind the city and you can still go tour the old set. They left a couple of crashed Hueys and there's a restaurant and natural river rock slide that are pretty cool. The old town area has some gorgeous old churches and colonial buildings. If you want to get away to a quiet, secluded beach take a shuttle boat across the bay to Yalapa, its a tiny town with no roads and a wonderful setting.

Oh and hookers & blow, obviously

Old town is badass and this ghetto ass boat trip I took takes you to a little village and you walk through the jungle to a waterfall its called the sarape I think that's spelled right.

Just got back from my second trip there. We went deep sea fishing off the las marietas island. We caught a lot of bonitas, but the experience was awesome. We went with "Mike's fishing tours." It's a actually owned by a guy named Miguel. Highly recommend.

                              View from the boat.

If you want to do anything like whale watching or zip lining, go with "Vallarta Adventures." I have done both and they were very professional and no gimmicks.

Terrible iPhone photos from the whale watching tour.

When you get off the plane, there will be people trying to sell time shares. They will lie to you. Keep walking right past them.

Also, only take the yellow cabs. They have posted rates so you know what you should pay. Your hotel will have the prices posted.

                              Have fun.
