OK, my coworker is going to bring me her dad's early 70s Pentax Sportmatic. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. Any experience with these?

Well, the biggest thing is what do you want out of it? Do you want a fully manual old school camera (which won't be compaibtible with much modern lenses) Or do you want something that can shoot with different priority modes, autofocus, and other features?

I have and use both, they both have perks, but do different things for you.

I really just want something to play and tinker with. I like older manual cameras for nolstalgic reasons. I don't need bells and whistles. I have a D50 for that

Really 50-100 bucks on a RTS II contax (was a 2200 dollar camera new) and a couple of hundred on a Contax Zeiss 50mm and you will be in great shape with awesome glass. And you will have access down the line to more AWESOME Zeiss glass for next to nothing since no modern DSLR uses that CY mount.

This thread and a coworker of mine thats a big film shooter still, has me kinda wanting to dig out my Gpas Leica M4 thats been packed away for many years. I dont want to get it out since he was the last one to use it. Its very sentimental gear to me
