    R3v, great cause please help!

I haven't asked for much from this site, but I'm asking now.

A group of us in the Air Force at Ramstein AB Germany have gotten together to do a 20K run here in Germany at the Nurburgring with Obstacles. Very much like a tough mudder in the states.
We are collecting donations for Fisher House Landstuhl and after we complete we will make the donation in person to their site managers.

So, please take a moment to check out the website and get to know what we are doing a little better.

I plan on updating our blog, adding pics as we go, having people video us competing, one of the guys will wear a GoPro while doing the run, and over all trying to include everyone who donates as much as possible.

Thanks and remember even donating a dollar helps out!

Speaking only for myself, I always wonder if these requests for good causes are legit.

I googled the topic and feel very comfortable (for myself) that this is a legitimate cause. Perhaps it would help if explained that the Fisher House is a house built on or near a military base to aid the families of wounded soldiers.

There are enough independent references to this cause other than the Fisher site itself that convince me my money will be put to good use.

Any effort to support our armed forces or their families is worthy of my time and my money.

    I am in.

EDIT: the donation link you supplied is not to the Fisherhouse site. I will donate to the official site, not the PayPall site your team created. I would ask you seriously reconsider having the donations go the Fisherhouse directly.

The Paypal site raises serious questions.
    EDIT END

    Thanks,

    Than

BTW, thanks to you and your friends for serving all of us (your country)!

Thanks.. Im definitely good with anyone donating directly to the Fisher house.

The reason we have it going to paypal is so that we can make one huge donation check after our run. As well as track how much we are able to raise as a team.

This is my first time setting up something like this in my 12 yrs of being on Active duty.
I just want to make this as successful as I can. The Fisher House is an amazing charity and the one here at Landstuhl in Ramstein Germany is especially busy given that this is the first location that families can usually join our wounded coming from down range.

Feel free to contact Ms. Wilson at the Landstuhl location to verify what we are doing is legit.

Is the website link with her email. Her email is also as follows: vivian.wilson@amedd.army.mil

We are trying to setup a meeting soon and a team photo as well.
Once again sorry if this doesn't look perfect but this is my first time building a website and our teams first time doing something like this.

By the way if you know a better site to use than Paypal that would be great!

Thanks again for your donation and please guys give us a chance! I will have more updates for the website soon. Even a team shot of us in military uniform if that helps.

But no fish on head or signs that say stupid things...lol

Oh and if it helps we have a sit down scheduled with Ms. Wilson so they can link us on their page as well to help show we are legit.

Sorry it has taken so long to update, but we have completed the run. Wow! Definitely the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I was completely exhausted after the event.

None of us took first place or anything. We were all middle of the pack but we all finished. The goal of staying together did not happen due to the crowds and everyone pushing to get through the obstacles, but it was still fun. I truly feel like I accomplished something.

I will say I wish I could of trained longer and been in better shape. I walked more than I wanted to but the event truly takes everything you have. It rained on Friday and Saturday was even worse with rain and fog, the whole event was a slippery mud fest especially with 16,000 people tearing up the grounds. I almost drowned in the water trough obstacle. It was very cold already and then jumping into even colder water sucked the air right out of my lungs and then I went under, came back up, and still couldn’t catch my breath. Finally after a frantic few seconds I got my footing and my breathing on track. Definitely something I wasn’t prepared for.

The order that we finished in was as follows. 1st – Paco, 2nd – Jeremy, 3rd Will, and 4th Q. All of us were covered in mud and had our cuts and bruises. Crossing the finish line was amazing and for me even better since Paco and Jeremy had a beer waiting on me.

We are now trying to schedule a get together with the Landstuhl Fisher House to present them the money we have raised, look for this in about 2 weeks. Which means you still have time to donate if you can. Every Penny counts and is much appreciated!

              As promised I’m including pics!
